Our founders, Maury Bronstein and John S. Wall, Jr., first met in 2007 while working for Situs, the then-largest commercial real estate consulting firm in the United States. Maury had recently joined the firm after working for two other large consulting firms during the previous decade. John joined after graduating from Rice University. The duo worked together for five years at Situs, with Maury leading the firm’s brokerage department and John becoming the firm’s top producing broker, as recognized by the Houston Business Journal naming him a “Heavy Hitter.”
During their tenure, Situs’ brokerage department grew annual transactions from $5 million to $50 million. They successfully closed numerous transactions across many property types: retail, industrial, office, multifamily, land, self-storage, and hospitality. In addition to providing traditional brokerage services, they helped clients strategically assess their portfolios and individual situations by providing due diligence, asset management, property management, workouts, portfolio analyses, benchmarking studies, and receiverships.
In 2011, Situs was sold to Helios AMC, a rated special servicer sponsored by Ranieri Partners. Maury and John subsequently joined Situs’ founders as partners in a new venture – BHW Real Estate Partners. A fund was raised and used to purchase real property and notes. Maury oversaw firm operations and investor relations while also being accountable for deal sourcing, due diligence and underwriting of potential acquisitions, and asset disposition. John oversaw brokerage services, business development, deal sourcing, and asset disposition.
They subsequently founded 1912 Ventures in 2014.
